Espero te sirva Saludos Ah, estos datos los saqué de acá: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=25685 A mí me pasó lo mismo, tenés que editar como administrador el archivo mozpluggerrc:

sudo gedit /etc/mozpluggerrc

después buscar este texto:

application/pdf: pdf: PDF file
application/x-pdf: pdf: PDF file
text/pdf: pdf: PDF file
text/x-pdf: pdf: PDF file

y justo abajo agregar una línea nueva que sea:

repeat noisy swallow(evince) fill: evince “$file”

guardás, cerrás, reiniciás el firefox si es que lo tenías abierto y listo, ya te abre los pdf dentro del firefox.
